The Doctor’s Wife wins Nebula Award

Writer Neil Gaiman and director Richard Clark have won a Nebula Award for their series six Doctor Who story The Doctor’s Wife.

Their nomination in the Ray Bradbury Award for Outstanding Dramatic Presentation category was the only television episode: they beat Attack the Block, Captain America, Hugo, Midnight in Paris, Source Code and The Adjustment Bureau. “I am so very happy,” Gaiman tweeted.

Jo Walton’s novel Among Others was Best Novel; “The Man Who Bridged the Mist,” by Kij Johnson won Best Novella; Geoff Ryman’s “What We Found” was Best Novelette; Ken Liu’s “The Paper Menagerie” was Best Short Story. Delia Sherman’s The Freedom Maze won the Andre Norton Award for Young Adult Science Fiction or Fantasy, and The Solstice Award was granted to John Clute and posthumously to Octavia Butler to acknowledge their significant positive impact on the science fiction and fantasy landscape.

According to the Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America President John Scalzi, “This is a fantastic list that shows both the width and depth of our genre. It shows that Science Fiction and Fantasy are not static but continue to grow and change. We are truly blessed with a fantastic slate of finalists this year.
