FX adapting Kurt Vonnegut’s Cat’s Cradle

Cats cradleFargo’s Noah Hawley is working on an adaptation of Kurt Vonnegut’s Cat’s Cradle for FX, according to a report at Deadline.

The novel was originally published in 1963 and tackles many themes found elsewhere in Vonnegut’s writing, including the role of religion and science in society. Published in the wake of the Cuban Missile Crisis, it tapped into fears of nuclear war, and the misuse of science, particularly in the new invention ice-nine, which alters the molecular structure of water, with potentially devastating effects. It was nominated for a Hugo Award in 1964.

Hawley will write and executive produce the limited series for FX Productions.
