Snyder explains Flash casting change from TV to film

Promoting Batman vs Superman, director Zack Snyder has explained why there are very different incarnations of the DC heroes on the large and small screens.

Unlike the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where some of the films’ stars could pop up in the network or Netflix series, Snyder is working in a multiverse, where the cinematic versions are very different from their small screen equivalents. This explains why the Superman seen in Smallville is hardly the grim character of Man of Steel and why Grant Gustin’s lighter Flash will not be seen in the movie currently being written by Phil Lord and Chris Miller or in the Justice League film that starts shooting in April.

Talking to the New York Daily News, Snyder said, “I just don’t think it was a good fit… I’m very strict with this universe and I just don’t see a version where…that [tone is] not our world… Even if Grant Gustin is my favorite guy in the world and he’s very good, we made a commitment to the multi-verse [idea], so it’s just not a thing that’s possible.”
