Defenders shoots this year; Inhumans pushed back

Daredevil-season-twoThere’s good and bad news for Marvel Cinematic Universe fans – the Netflix Defenders series is set to enter production this year, but the Inhumans movie is leaving its current slot.

Talking at the Netflix press event in Paris, Daredevil star Charlie Cox confirmed that the Defenders series – which will see the individual stars of Netflix’s series (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Danny Rand aka Iron Fist) team up – is going in front of the cameras before the end of 2016. “I have no idea what the storyline is going to be for that show. I’m very excited to see how those worlds combine… and interested to see tonally how those shows become one,” he said. He did note, however, that there was no news on a third series of Daredevil. “We don’t know if there’s going to be a Season 3. I certainly don’t know.”

Speaking to Collider, Marvel supremo Kevin Feige noted that the Phase Three films were thrown out of kilter by the “joyous coup” of Spider-Man’s arrival in the MCU, and the addition of Ant-Man and the Wasp to the schedule. Combined with the release of a fifth Indiana Jones film around the time that the Inhumans film was due, and “I think it will shuffle off the current date that it’s on right now. How far down it shuffles, I’m not sure yet.” He did, however, confirm that the presence of the Inhumans on Agents of SHIELD would not preclude a movie.

Feige also hinted that there would be more news about the Captain Marvel film in the coming weeks.
