According to various reports, the new Star Trek TV show will be shooting north of the border.
Studio space has apparently been booked in Toronto from September for the new show, executive produced by Bryan Fuller, whose Hannibal shot in the Ontario city for three seasons, and who is curently working on Starz’ American Gods adaptation there.
This will mark the first time that production of a Star Trek TV show has been away from the Paramount lot (bar location filming). Numerous SF series have filmed in Canada over the years, either in Vancouver (where 13th movie Star Trek Beyond was shot), or Toronto, with Killjoys and 12 Monkeys also produced there.
Despite various rumours that the show will be in the “prime” timeline, and that it may be an anthology series in the vein of series like American Horror Story, there has been no official confirmation from CBS of any aspect, bar the names of the producers.
