Review: Primeval New World: Series 1 Episode 11: The Inquisition

PNW 111Evan is faced with an unenviable choice as various people’s agendas become clearer…

Warning: Spoilers

It may not have the fast-paced action of some of the earlier instalments of the series, but this episode is, in many ways, the most ‘adult’ and most different from the British original. We have got to know these characters so well that we understand a lot that they’re not saying, as well as what they are revealing – particularly when it comes to Evan and those closest to him.

The revelations about what Ken Leeds has been up to, and the consequences of that, take the show into new territory. Louis Ferreira makes a chilling boss for Project Magnet, a smiling assassin who only shows his true feelings when no one else is present, and the thought of him carrying out his plans is truly frightening.

It’s a very talky episode: there’s some running around corridors for Mac and Dylan, and there’s the odd flashback (it’s not a clip show, contrary to some reports: the combined old footage can’t add up to more than a minute or so, and we’ve gone back to Brooke’s death in more detail than this), but basically it’s Colonel Hall dealing with Evan and/or Ken Leeds.

There are only two more episodes left – and a lot of unanswered questions. Primary of which is – will we be seeing the team return?!

Verdict: A certain amount of getting everyone in place for the finale, but the revelations are really game changing… 8/10
