And so the first season ends with a number of answers to the questions posed at the start of the year: we learn who Bo’s mother is (and there are some great scenes where her particular brand of nuttiness is contrasted with Bo being calm); Dyson reveals what he knows about Bo’s background, and Trick’s role in the Fae world is made clearer.
Saskia’s plans allow the producers to move various pieces around in readiness for the second season: the Ash’s illness allows for recasting or replacement; Lauren and Bo are on a more even keel. It’ll be interesting to see when or if Kenzi learns about Trick’s actions during the final battle, particularly after her accusations to him immediately prior.
In a recent interview, both Anna Silk and Kris Holden-Reid said that they liked the stories that combined the mystery of the week with the Fae mythology, but it has to be said that the episodes that concentrate more on the latter have proved the stronger in the first year. Hopefully that will be the focus going forward.
