Being Human: Review: Becoming Human

The continuing adventures of vampire Adam, as he meets Christa, a werewolf in denial, and Matt, a recently-deceased ghost…

The internet spin-off from Being Human aired during the latter part of series three of the parent series, and makes for a fun extra episode. The compilation, aired on BBC Three and BBC HD, is inevitably a little disjointed, given its original broadcast format, but it hangs together well, and the narration that opened each of the internet episodes provides added insights into the characters and their psyches.

Set in a school where Adam singularly fails to make an impression with his 1970s pop culture references, it comes across at times as a blackly humorous version of Scooby Doo – at the end, the culprit would definitely have got away with it if it wasn’t for the pesky meddling kids. There’s a good chemistry between the three leads, and in some ways it’ll be a shame if Adam’s return during series four of the main show somehow negates the potential from this.

If you’ve not seen it, it’s worth tracking down.  7/10
