Thunderbirds are Go: Review: Series 1 Episode 17: Heist Society

Tbs 117The Hood is after a new discovery, Centurium 21…

As you might guess from the name of the element involved, Peter Briggs’ script for this episode has a few Easter eggs in it for fans of the original Gerry Anderson shows (including Brains’ real name confirmed as Hiram). It’s another enjoyable heist episode involving the Hood, who seems to have given up on hiring henchmen or having assisting hoodlums and carries out his attack on the underwater train on his own, only to be foiled by Penny’s dog (well, Penelope and Parker have something to do with it, but I’m sure it was the dog really).

Briggs’ script involves most of the Tracys (I did wonder for a moment if TB3 was going to be deployed to try to catch the Hood’s escape capsule!) as well as giving Lady P and Parker a central role – FAB1’s capabilities have been rather ramped up but Parker’s attitude to its failure to reboot and then success was nicely done.

Verdict: A well-constructed and executed episode. 8/10
